Organization Overview:

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is an economic development agency of the federal government and 13 state governments focusing on 423 counties across the Appalachian Region. ARC’s mission is to innovate, partner, and invest to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth in Appalachia to help the Region achieve socioeconomic parity with the nation. The Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) mission is to promote and preserve the efficiency, effectiveness, and integrity of ARC.

Position Summary:

The Office of Inspector General seeks a highly organized and collaborative team player to join the Office of Inspector General as a Program Analyst to analyze the operations of the Division. Collaborate with teams to develop project strategies, approaches, and plans, implement activities and monitor progress towards outlined project milestones, deliverables, and approved work plans. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a professional demeanor and ability to provide in-depth reports to OIG leadership and co-workers.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills to take the initiative, problem solve, prioritize duties, and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong public speaking skills to make presentations or updates for different levels of audiences.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools to better understand internal operations.
  • Ability to collaborate and network with federal agencies, state & local governments, regional organizations, and colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail with superb follow-up & organizational skills.
  • Adept self-starter with the ability to achieve broad goals by working across divisions and incorporating the work of different divisions within the organization.
  • Core competencies: accountability, adaptability, collaboration, communication, critical analysis.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and bring an energetic and innovative approach to his or her work.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite.
  • Successful completion (prior to hire) and maintenance of background security review.
  • Ability to travel (~10%).  If travel is needed, must maintain and possess a valid driver’s license.

ARC generally follows the General Schedule Salary Table of the Federal government.  ARC’s grades denoted by “NF” are equivalent to the federal grade(s) on the GS chart.  This position is an NF12 (DC locality).
